Southern Arizona BBVA
After growing up in Tucson, Mark attended the University of Arkansas where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration in 1984 and received an MBA from Arizona State University in 1986. Mark played football at the University of Arkansas where he was an All Conference wide receiver and Team Captain for the Razorbacks.
Mark has been the President and CEO of BBVA for Southern Arizona for the past 20 years. He began his career with Valley National Bank in Phoenix before moving back to Tucson in 1987. Mark worked in various positions with Valley National Bank/Bank One before joining Compass Bank in 1999.
Mark has served on numerous non-profit boards in the Tucson community. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Sun Corridor Inc. and the Southern Arizona Leadership Council. Mark is a Past Chairman of the Board of the Metropolitan Tucson Chamber of Commerce. Other past involvement includes serving on the Boards of the National Board of Advisors for the University of Arizona Eller College of Management, The Diocese of Tucson Catholic Foundation, Our Morther of Sorrows Parish Endowment Board, Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities (TREO), Tucson Parks Foundation, Junior Achievement of Southern Arizona, and Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic School. He has also given his time to the Prima Vera Homeless Shelter, United Way of Southern Arizona, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, and St. Vincent DePaul. Mark also coached his son’s youth sports teams for many years.
Mark has been married to Kathy for 32 years and they have three sons.
