Arizona and Mexico share a long history of engagement on many levels, including economic, civic, cultural and educational. Mexico is the 15th largest economy in the world. Mexico is Arizona’s largest trade partner, accounting for $7.6 billion and over 34% of Arizona’s exports in 2018. When we transitioned to Sun Corridor Inc., it was more than just a name change. It was a strategic evolution with several key drivers, one of which is to develop a stronger connection with Mexico.
Southern Arizona and Mexico share a longstanding relationship and deep cultural ties; and the Mexican state of Sonora and Pima County share major industries, including aerospace, manufacturing, mining and tourism. Increasing our collaborative and problem-solving efforts with Mexico regarding port of entry efficiency, over-stop, rail service, Customs capacity at the border, and tourism activities will result in economic growth and increased job opportunities.
